National Visa

Documents Required

All documents must be submitted in English and dated within 30 days of the application. Original documents must be presented for verification, along with photocopies for submission.

Standard Requirements

• Completed Long-Stay Visa Application Form
  • Signed and dated by the applicant
• Valid Passport
  • Must be valid for at least 8 months from the date of application
• One Passport-size Photograph
  • As per ICAO standards
• Travel Medical Insurance
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000
  • Valid in the Schengen area
  • Must include the applicant’s name and passport number
  • Duration of coverage must match the visa type
• Proof of Accommodation
  • Must cover the initial 14 nights
  • Can be a hotel booking, rental agreement, or hosted stay declaration
• Flight Booking/Itinerary
  • Confirmed round-trip or one-way ticket as per visa category
  • All transit points and passenger name must be clearly visible
• Full Passport Copy
  • Photocopy of all pages, including blank pages
• Recent Bank Statement
  • Must reflect last 3 months of activity
  • Sufficient balance to cover stay duration
  • If sponsored, sponsor’s bank statement and declaration must be included

Professional/Business Visa (Stay over 90 Days)

• Invitation Letter
  • On official letterhead from the host company in Malta, signed by the invitee
• Proof of Business Ties
  • Supporting documents such as agenda, contracts, or past correspondence
• Proof of Host Company Status
  • Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Maltese business
• Applicant’s Proof of Business Activity
  • Company registration documents or business licenses from the applicant’s country
• Accommodation Declaration (if hosted)
  • Signed and stamped by a Maltese lawyer or notary
  • Utility bill and ID of the host must be provided

Employment Visa (Stay over 90 Days)

• Approval in Principle (AIP) Letter
  • Must apply within 60 days of AIP issuance
• Accommodation Proof (as per type):
  • Hosted: Legal declaration, host’s ID and utility bill
  • Rented: Signed lease agreement
  • Hotel: Booking for minimum 14 nights
• Medical Insurance
  • Must cover a minimum of 180 consecutive days
  • Must not be restricted to country of residence
• Skills Pass Certificate (if applicable)
  • Mandatory for jobs related to tourism or hospitality

Temporary Employment Visa (Less than 6 Months)

• Employment Licence from Jobsplus
• Invitation Letter from Maltese Host Employer
• Accommodation Proof
  • Hosted: Notarised declaration, host’s ID and utility bill
  • Rented: Signed lease agreement
  • Hotel: Booking for minimum 14 nights

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not older than 6 months) that meets the following requirements:

Background

• Taken against a light-coloured background (white or off-white)
• Facial features must be clearly visible with contrast against the background

Quality & Composition

• High resolution with the face in clear focus
• Full face visible:
  • Neutral expression (non-smiling)
  • No sunglasses or tinted lenses
  • No hats, caps, or head coverings, unless worn for religious or ethnic reasons

Format

• Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
• Photograph must be securely attached (glued) to the visa application form

Important
If the photograph does not meet the above specifications, the application will be deemed incomplete, and the applicant may be asked to retake the photo at the application centre.
