Documents Required
All documents listed below are mandatory. Each applicant must submit their own set of documents.
Important: Most documents required for your visa application must be recent and dated within the last 30 days at the time of submission. Ensure all paperwork meets this requirement to avoid delays or rejection.
General Requirements
Visa Application Form
- Fully completed, signed, and dated.
Photograph
- One passport-size colour photograph printed on photo paper with a white background.
- No digital retouching allowed.
Passport
- Valid for at least 1 year from the intended date of travel.
- Must contain two blank pages.
- Photocopy of the bio-data page of the passport.
- Passports issued more than 10 years ago will not be accepted.
- Applicants must leave their passports at the Consulate during processing.
UK Residency
- Provide a UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
Investment Requirements
Applicants must provide original and certified copies of the investment made, which can include:
- Investment in Public Debt

- Certificate from a financial entity or Banco de España, confirming that the applicant is the sole owner of Spanish public debt worth at least €2 million, with a commitment period of at least 5 years.
- Investment in Shares or Business Projects

- If investing in unquoted stocks and shares, submit a declaration of investment made at the Foreign Investments Registry of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation.
- If investing in quoted stocks, provide a certificate from a financial intermediary registered at the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) or Banco de España, confirming the investment.
- If investing in a business project, submit a favourable report from the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office stating the project’s economic interest.
- Investment in Bank Deposits

- A bank certificate from a Spanish financial institution confirming the deposit of at least €1 million, with the applicant as the sole owner.
- Investment in Real Estate

- Land Registry Certificate (issued within the last 90 days) proving the applicant’s ownership of property valued at €500,000 or more.
- Deed of Sale if the full purchase amount is not included in the Land Registry Certificate.
- Investment through a Legal Entity

- A favourable report from the Spanish Economic and Commercial Office confirming:
- The company is not based in a tax haven.
- The applicant holds majority voting rights and can appoint or dismiss board members.
All foreign documents must be legalized or apostilled and translated into Spanish.
Proof Finance
- Proof of sufficient funds to support the applicant and accompanying family members.
- The minimum required amount is equivalent to 400% of Spain’s Public Multiple Effects Income Indicator (IPREM) per year.
- An additional 100% of the IPREM is required for each accompanying family member.
Additional Documentation
Criminal Record Certificate (For Applicants Aged 18+)
- Original and photocopy of a criminal record certificate from all countries where the applicant has resided in the past 2 years.
- UK applicants must provide an ACRO Certificate.
- Applicants must also submit a self-declaration stating they have no criminal record in the past 5 years.
- Documents must be legalized or apostilled (except for EU-issued documents).
- If not in Spanish, an official translation must be provided.
Health Insurance
- Proof of a private health insurance policy from a company authorized to operate in Spain.
- Coverage must be valid for the entire stay in Spain and provide full medical assistance.
Proof of Residence in the UK
- Utility bills, tenancy agreements, or university registration letters confirming that the applicant lives or studies within the Spanish Consulate’s jurisdiction in London.
Family Members Accompanying the Investor
Family members of the applicant can apply for a visa under family reunification. Additional documents required:
- Marriage or birth certificates to prove family relationship.
- Proof of financial dependence for adult children or dependent relatives.
- Documents must be translated into Spanish and legalized or apostilled.
Additional Information
- Stapling documents is not permitted.
- All documents must be in English or Spanish. Translations into Spanish are only required if specifically requested.
- Visa approval is not guaranteed, and additional documents may be requested by the Consulate.
- All decisions regarding visa issuance, duration, and conditions are at the discretion of the Spanish Consulate General in London.
Photo Specifications
Applicants must submit one recent colour photograph (not older than 6 months) that meets the following requirements:
- Background: Taken against a plain, light-coloured background (white or off-white) to ensure facial features are clearly distinguishable and contrast against the background.
- Clarity & Focus: The photo must be of high quality, clear, and in sharp focus.
- Full Face Visible:
- The applicant must have a neutral expression (non-smiling).
- No sunglasses, hats, caps, or head coverings, unless worn for religious or cultural reasons.
- Printing Requirements:
- Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print).
- Must be glued to the visa application form (not stapled).
- Compliance Check:
- If the submitted photograph does not meet the above requirements, the application will be considered incomplete.
- The applicant may be required to take new photographs at a photo booth in the visa application centre.
