Tourist Visa

Hassle-free visa processing for your travel needs.

Overview

This short-stay visa is intended for individuals residing in the UK with non-British passports who plan to travel to Malta for either tourism or to visit family and friends. Whether you’re exploring Malta’s historic landscapes or staying with loved ones, this visa allows a stay of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Each applicant, including minors and infants, must attend an in-person appointment booked in advance.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Hold a valid passport or travel document.
  • Hold a valid UK residency.

UK Residency: UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code. 

Processing Time

  • Applications can be submitted up to 6 months before the intended travel date.
  • Minimum processing time is 3 weeks.
  • Extra time may be required during peak periods or if additional documents or interviews are requested.
  • Applicants applying through regional centres must allow 2 extra working days for document dispatch.

Documents Required

Standard Documentation

Visa Application Form

  • Completed and signed original Schengen visa application form.

Passport

  • Original passport and photocopy.
  • Valid for at least 90 days beyond the return date.
  • Issued within the last 10 years.
  • Must include at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Include photocopies of past Schengen visas from the last 3 years (if applicable).

Photograph

  • One recent colour passport-sized photo (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm).

UK eVisa printout from UKVI with a valid share code.
 

Supporting Documentation

Proof of Occupation

  • Employed:
    Recent (dated within 30 days) employer letter on headed paper confirming employment, or last 3 months’ payslips.
  • Student:
    Recent (dated within 30 days), signed letter from a UK school, college, or university confirming current enrolment.
  • Self-Employed:
    Signed, dated, and headed letter from:

    • Accountant
    • Solicitor
    • Bank manager
      Or, Certificate of Incorporation from Companies House along with proof of applicant’s connection to the company.
  • Unemployed / Retired:
    Original letter from the Jobcentre or Pension Service confirming status.
  • Housewife/Househusband (married applicants):
    • Marriage certificate (original + copy; translated if not in English)
    • Spouse/partner’s passport (original + copy)
    • Spouse/partner’s proof of occupation
    • Spouse/partner’s proof of finance
    • Cover letter from spouse/partner confirming sponsorship

Proof of Finance

  • Latest 3 months’ UK bank statements showing applicant’s name, address, and dated within 30 days. (stamped & authenticated by the bank)
  • Must show salary deposits if employed.
  • Minimum required balance: £48.00 per day of stay plus travel and accommodation costs.
  • Online bank statements (e.g., Monzo, Revolut) accepted with full detail.
  • Travellers’ cheques are also accepted.

Proof of Travel

  • Fully paid round-trip flight tickets showing applicant’s full name, travel dates, booking code, and e-ticket number.
  • Travel packages must show 75% payment at time of application.
  • Bookings through unregistered travel agencies or provisional/unpaid tickets are not accepted.
  • Car travel: car registration, insurance, ferry or Eurotunnel booking, driver’s licence.
    If the applicant is not the driver, a signed cover letter from the driver must confirm joint travel.
  • If travelling through multiple Schengen countries, evidence of transportation between countries is required.

Proof of Accommodation

  • Tourist Travel:
    Confirmed hotel/hostel/camping reservation showing the applicant’s name, travel dates, and full accommodation address.
    If the applicant is not listed on the reservation, include a joint travel letter signed by the listed person, along with a copy of their passport/ID.
  • Staying with Family/Friends:
    Host’s Declaration of Proof
    (not older than 6 months), certified by a legal representative in Malta.
    Copy of host’s passport bio page.
    If the host is a non-EU citizen, include a copy of their valid permit of stay in Malta.

Travel Insurance

  • Must clearly name the insured applicant.
  • Must cover all Schengen countries for the full travel period.
  • Minimum coverage of €30,000 for medical emergencies and repatriation.
  • Must be issued by a UK-registered insurance provider.
  • For multiple trips, applicants should not submit single-trip policies.

Photo Specifications

Please provide one recent colour photograph (not older than 6 months) that meets the following requirements:

Background

  • Taken against a light-coloured background (white or off-white)
  • Facial features must be clearly visible with contrast against the background

Quality & Composition

  • High resolution with the face in clear focus
  • Full face visible:
    • Neutral expression (non-smiling)
    • No sunglasses or tinted lenses
    • No hats, caps, or head coverings, unless worn for religious or ethnic reasons

Format

  • Printed on standard photographic paper (camera print only)
  • Photograph must be securely attached (glued) to the visa application form

Important
If the photograph does not meet the above specifications, the application will be deemed incomplete, and the applicant may be asked to retake the photo at the application centre.
